Jan 04, 2006· I was hoping to buy one of these cheap off brand trash pumps cause I am only going to use it once. I am thinking it would work cause in my case these is nothing larger than grains of sand to pull out. it looks like most of these dredges use a air compressor to agitate the dirt before the pump .
Oct 15, 2019· There are two types of pumps. Semi trash pumps and high pressure pumps. (HP often referred to as clear water.) Semi trash pumps will move large amounts of water with not too much PSI. Most 2" semi trash pumps are rated about 35 42 psi. Rocks, sand and gravel, up to about 1/4" 1/2" can pass through these based on the pump.

He said that it worked well, but a 3" trash pump with a smaller motor that he rented a few years back didnt work at all, he spent more time cleaning it out than he did pumping.

It is important that only relatively clean water go into the dredge pump so I put the output of the 3 inch pump into a large bucket, the foot valve for the dredge pump goes into the bucket so that it only sucks up clean water.

If you have a semi trash pump and know your way around PVC fittings you could make one. Being that your water depth is shallow you could operate it and never get your head underwater.
