Rose Rock | The Encyclopedia of Okloma History and Culture
The barite rosette or "rose rock" has been the state rock of Okloma since House Bill 1277 was approved by the Okloma Legislature on April 8, 1968, and was signed into law by Gov. Dewey F. Bartlett. Rose rocks are found in central Okloma, although barite deposits also occur in the Wichita and Ouachita mountains.
